Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars will go on the road to play Zach Wilson and the Jets on Thursday Night Football to open up Week 16. This prime-time matchup has a lot of playoff implications, as the Jaguars are a game behind the Titans for first place in the AFC South, and the Jets are one game behind the Chargers and Dolphins for the final two spots in the AFC. Even though the weather won’t be great for Thursday’s matchup, NFL DFS players will still have a lot of intriguing players to pick from as they put together their FanDuel single-game lineup.
Before we get into our picks and strategy, here are the notable scoring settings for FanDuel single-game contests: The point total for the “MVP” is multiplied by 1.5, but he doesn’t cost any additional money like the “Captain” in DraftKings Showdown contests. FanDuel’s default scoring is half-point PPR and four-point passing TDs, and there are no bonuses for 300-yard/100-yard games like on DraftKings.

$60,000 budget, need at least one player from each team
MVP (1.5x points): RB Zonovan Knight, Jets ($12,500)
With the threat of steady rain and wind, the best MVP options are either Jets RB Zonovan Knight or Jaguars RB Travis Etienne. We will take the cheaper option in Knight, who is coming off a rough performance against the Lions last week, scoring a season-low 2.3 FanDuel points (23 yards on 13 carries). However, he should be able to bounce back against a Jaguars’ defense that allows the 11th-most FanDuel points to RBs (21.8) this season. Last week against the Cowboys, Jacksonville gave up 133 rushing yards and a touchdown to Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott. We don’t know if Knight and Michael Carter will be able to duplicate that, but we should see Knight get at least a dozen or more carries and a handful of catches, giving him plenty of upside.
FLEX QB Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars ($16,500)
Even though both teams will run the ball heavily on Thursday night, we will still see both quarterbacks put the ball in the air. Lawrence has looked like a completely different player this season under the direction of head coach Doug Pederson, completing 66 percent of his passes for 3,520 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The former Clemson standout also has four rushing TDs and averages 19.26 FanDuel points per game. Last week against Dallas, Lawrence had one of his best games of the season with 339 total yards and four passing TDs. He’s also scored 20 or more FanDuel points in four of his past five games. Lawrence has a tough matchup this week against a Jets defense that allows the eighth-fewest FanDuel points (15) to quarterbacks this season, so it might be tough for him to reach the 20-point threshold again, but he has the weapons to put up a respectable score.
FLEX WR Christian Kirk, Jaguars ($13,000)
With Lawrence in our lineup, we have to play Kirk, who is coming off a solid outing against the Cowboys last week when he scored 12.2 FanDuel points (six receptions for 92 yards). It is the fourth time in the past six games that the veteran wide receiver has scored double-digit fantasy points. Kirk will try to carry that momentum into this week’s game against a Jets’ defense that has allowed the second-fewest FanDuel points to WRs (22.5) this season. It’s not a great matchup, as he will likely see a ton of rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner, but Kirk has seen 25 targets over the past three weeks. At the very least, we’re hoping Kirk is a contrarian play due to the matchup and Zay Jones outshining him over the past couple of games.
FLEX TE Evan Engram, Jaguars ($11,000)
Don’t look now, but Engram has been one of the best TEs in NFL DFS over the past few weeks, averaging 18.5 FanDuel points per game over that period. Last week against the Cowboys, Engram shined with eight receptions (10 targets) for 62 yards. He will now try to replicate that performance against a Jets’ defense that has been middle of the road against TEs all season. Given the rainy, windy weather conditions, Engram could garner a lot of short receptions over the middle of the field.
FLEX TE Tyler Conklin, Jets ($6,500)
For the last pick in our FanDuel single-game lineup, we will take a chance on Conklin, who had just 1.4 FanDuel points in last week’s loss to the Lions. The veteran tight end’s production has been up and down this season due to the Jets’ quarterback situation, but the Jags allow the sixth-most points to TEs (10.8) and six touchdowns to the position this season. Conklin has a decent floor and high ceiling this week.
