REPORT: Two NFL Heavyweights Have Expressed Interest Free Agent LB Bobby Wagner

The cap-strapped Los Angeles Rams sent another big-named star to the free agent market last week when they released Bobby Wagner. Unsurprisingly, the future Hall of Famer is rapidly garnering plenty of interest.

According to a report from Jordan Schultz of theScore, the Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys are among the clubs that “have called” Wagner. Schultz added that a reunion with the Seattle Seahawks is also a possibility.

Wagner spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Seahawks, who drafted him 47th overall back in 2012. Seattle released Wagner in a cost-cutting move last offseason, and he went on to sign with the defending Super Bowl champions.

Wagner had a productive season in his first year with the Rams, but the organization has decided to make considerable changes after a disastrous 5-12 season, also releasing standout linebacker Leonard Floyd. The club is also expected to trade away All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, a mainstay on their Super Bowl championship club.

The 32-year-old Wagner, who led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl 48 championship nine years ago, has 29.5 career sacks to go along with 13 interceptions, 65 pass defenses and six forced fumbles.

Both the Cowboys (12-5) and Chargers (10-7) qualified for the postseason in 2022, falling in the Divisional Round and Wild Card Round, respectively. Adding an eight-time Pro Bowler like Wagner to either defense would only help bolster the Cowboys’ or Chargers’ Super Bowl chances.
