NY Giants list of injured players continues to grow at a concerning rate

Yes, it may be the preseason, and yes there’s plenty of time before Week 1 arrives for the NY Giants, but goodness, this team can’t seem to stay healthy. While the offensive line is a major concern health wise leading up to the Sept. 11 battle with the Tennessee Titans, we’re starting to see more and more guys miss practice because they’re banged up – with the list including Kadarius Toney and others.

Things have gotten so bad for the Giants, particularly up front, that Brian Daboll even admitted that he’s not 100 percent set on if Daniel Jones will start the preseason game against the Bengals. If Jones does, he likely won’t be out there for long. Meanwhile, the Giants revealed the list of guys who won’t hit the field to take on Cincinnati and we’ve officially reached double digits.

• DL Leonard Williams
• LB Elerson Smith
• LB Jihad Ward
• CB Cor’Dale Flott
• CB Rodarius Williams
• S Dane Belton

Not good when you have to thread the injury tweets.

NY Giants injuries are already a big headache for Brian Daboll

The fact that 18 players have been ruled out for Sunday is eye-opening. You can make the argument that several guys would be able to tough it out of this were the regular season, but you can’t be so sure of that. With Shane Lemieux for example, he’s dealing with a foot injury and no one knows if he’ll be back in time for the Tennessee matchup.

With Jon Feliciano also out of action, this means the new-look offensive line for the G-Men has been forced to undergo yet another makeover this week in practice. Things continue to shift around in front of Jones and no one wants to see that, especially the fourth-year signal-caller.

Giants have their sixth center now in rotation with the first team due to injuries.

Jon Feliciano should be back next week, but this was the first-team offensive line today:

LT Andrew Thomas
LG Devery Hamilton
C Max Garcia
RG Mark Glowinski
RT Evan Neal

There’s been so much movement at center this offseason, it feels like it has basically been a game of musical chairs for who’s getting the snaps with the first-team offense. It also sucks that the health of the offensive line could impact how much we see Jones, Saquon Barkley and additional playmakers against Cincinnati on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium.

All in all, the injuries indeed are piling up for this team and things need to change as soon as possible for Daboll and his staff. When fully healthy, this Giants roster has what it takes to surprise plenty of people in the NFC East. If guys can’t stay out on the field, however, then it could prove to be another long campaign for Big Blue.
