In the mood to predict the future? If you’re up for creating a long-shot bet, future odds could be fun for you.

The New York Giants (7-5-1, tied for 3rd in NFC East) head south on I-95 as they take on the Washington Commanders (7-5-1, tied 3rd in NFC East) for the second time in three weeks on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 15.

The Giants were embarrassed in Week 14 as the Philadelphia Eagles hung 48 points on them in a 48-22 defeat at MetLife Stadium, while Washington was one of six teams with a bye week.

After a 1-4-1 stretch over their last six games, can the Giants finally get back in the win column and further cement themselves as a playoff team, or will the Commanders edge them out of a playoff spot? Here are my picks and predictions for this crucial Week 15 matchup with odds powered by Tipico Sportsbook.

Spread: Giants +4 (-109)

While they might only have one win since Halloween, the Giants are still 3-3 against the spread (ATS) in that time and have covered in nine of 13 games this season. Washington has been red hot as it has covered and won outright in six of its last eight games.

Despite the Giants being 2-5 ATS in their last seven divisional games, they are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 overall, covered five of their last seven matchups against a team with a winning record and have only failed to cover once in their previous five road games.

Meanwhile, the Commanders are 4-9-1 ATS in their prior 14 games after not covering the previous game, and have not covered in four of their past five games following a bye week.

In this NFC East rivalry, a majority of the signs point toward the Giants, as they are 6-2 against the spread in the last eight meetings and covered four straight in Washington. Also, the road team is 5-1 ATS in the past six games. The underdog is 4-1 in terms of covering in the previous five matchups.

With all these positive trends, and getting more than a field goal, take the points with the Giants currently at +4 in this spot.

Over/Under: Over 40 points (-109)

Through a majority of this season, these two teams have been great toward the under, with trends pointing in the direction of another low-scoring outcome. However, I think we see more than 40 points scored, and here’s why:

After being more of a bend-don’t-break defense for most of the season, the Giants defense has struggled, giving up more than 27 points in three of their last five games. New York has surrendered at least 17 points in each of its four road matchups this season, including a season-high 28 to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.

This matchup has also seen 40 or more points scored in five of the last eight meetings, including four straight in Washington.

It may seem risky, but I wouldn’t hesitate to bet that we see at least 40 points scored on Sunday night.

Moneyline: Giants (+170)

After their performance in Week 14 against the Eagles, there should be no surprise here why the Giants are the underdog, and the Commanders a big -200 (Bet $200 to win $100) on the moneyline. However, you would believe if healthy enough, the Giants will use RB Saquon Barkley way more than they did in the blowout loss to the Eagles where he had just 11 total touches for 48 yards with the game out of reach by the midway point of the second quarter.

In three career games in Washington, the 26-year-old tailback has had great success as he averages 139 rushing yards per game and has scored three touchdowns. There’s also a chance that defensive lineman Leonard Williams returns for this primetime matchup after missing Week 14 with a neck injury.

Between Barkley’s dominance in the nation’s capital and Williams’ potentially returning, I believe we see Big Blue pull off the upset as +170 underdogs (Bet $100 to win $170) and further entrench themselves in the NFC playoff picture.

My Best Bets

Place a wager on the Giants as an underdog on the moneyline (+170), to cover the +4 spread (-109) and the over 40 total points scored at -109 on Tipico Sportsbook.

Prediction: Giants 23, Commanders 20
